Om Halhala, Shaab Abu Dabbab & More

Speedboat diving offshore dive sites of Marsa Alam

There’s a massive port coral at Om Halhalla and absolutely worth admiring. Other species that make Om Halhalla a place to remember are mushroom and leather corals, broccoli coral, rose coral, table coral, fire coral and ‘pachyseris’. Om Halhalla has a fish tank reputation with the presence of their devil scorpionfish, nudibranchs, giant morays and wrasses in appearance of the cheek lined, the Klunzinger, the moon, the napoleon and the blue-streak. Wrasses come in every shape, size and colour. Their colouration is simply stunning, as is the complexity of their brilliant patterns. What wrasse have in common, generally speaking, are their elongate bodies and their fleshy, thickened lips; as if they are swimming against a strong current the whole day…
Speaking of thick lips. That’s the massive napoleon wrasse for you, measuring up to 230 cm. The hump head wrasse, as it is also called, can reach the age of 30 years old. It lives in solitary fashion. Its coloration shows an intriguing deep cadet blue and green, sometimes with a purplish-blue sheen.
Om Halhalla also boasts sightings of dolphins, stingrays, sea turtles and white tip and black tip reef sharks. A speedboat trip with Blue Ocean dive centers brings this world closer to you…

You have also the chance to cruise you to Shaab Abu Dabbab. You will find one of the most famous reef sites of Egypt, Shaab Abu Dabbab, at about 30 kilometers north of Marsa Alam. It is classified as an ‘easy site’ since the current isn’t really prominent here. This spot is also relatively shallow, with maximum depths reaching around 18 meters deep. Hence, absolute beginners from the diving division will love it here. The Shaab Abu Dabbab reef comprises six separate parts. They look like flagstones protruding from the sea, resulting in a formation of ‘stepping stones’. Shaab Abu Dabbab features a fine blend of reefs, pinnacles, caves and tunnels. The current runs from south to north and can be strong at times, so Abu Dabbab is sometimes a drift diving site. However, this site is perfect for divers of all levels

Blue Ocean Dive Center in Abu Dabbab bay arranges more speedboat trips in nearby dive sites in Marsa Alam such as; Elphinestone Reef and The Garden Reef.
